Study Boosts Dental Implants

Two large international clinical studies have shown that dental implants perform just as well as we thought! These long-lasting and safe replacements for missing teeth were found to perform even better than we had previously implant

These clinical studies looked at more than 1,000 implants in Europe, the US, and Australia. The researchers found implant survival rates of 98% with practically no bone loss around the implants. This survival rate for implants was even higher than the 95.5% that had been reported in earlier research.

Dental implants can be used to replace just one tooth or many. Dental implants can even be used to anchor a full set of dentures – no more slipping dentures to worry about.

A dental implant looks kind of like a small screw. The implant is placed in the jaw and the bone actually heals around the implant so it acts just like your natural tooth root. A dental implant process is completed when a special implant crown, or other restoration like dentures, are attached.

Dental implants allow us to replace a missing tooth without using a bridge – which required preparing adjacent teeth – which can make keep the area clean difficult. Teeth that have been replaced using dental implants look, feel and act just like your natural teeth when smiling, talking or eating.
